Rediscovering Wonder: A Peek Inside the Ogden Nature Center’s Revamped Discovery Room!

We're thrilled to share a glimpse into a very special project: a complete redesign of the Discovery Room at the beloved Ogden Nature Center! Our goal was to transform the space into a truly immersive, inviting, and educational environment where visitors of all ages can feel an immediate connection to the wild beauty of Utah.

Here’s a look at how we brought the earthy magic indoors.

 

Bringing the Outdoors In

The most dramatic change comes from the integration of massive, high-impact wall graphics. As you step in, you're immediately greeted by panoramic vistas that wrap around the room, contrasting the lush, green mountain landscapes with fiery, golden sunsets. This visual journey ensures that even while indoors, you are always surrounded by the powerful beauty of the natural world.

The flooring adds to this grounded feeling—we chose a soft, mossy-textured carpet for the main area and a river-stone-patterned tile in high-traffic zones, adding subtle but rich variety underfoot.

 

The Knowledge Nook: A Cozy Corner

One of our favorite new additions is the dedicated learning area (what we like to call the "Knowledge Nook"). We installed a sturdy wooden bookshelf unit that serves as a beautiful focal point:

• Learning Displays: The upper portion features glass-front display cases, allowing visitors to get a closer look at the delicate details of nature, like preserved insects and butterflies.

• Reading Corner: Below, colorful books stand ready to inspire the next generation of naturalists.

• Conservation Messages: Flanking the shelves are important posters, including a striking image of a cautious beaver and essential information about Utah’s vital water resources.

 

Rustic Textures and Playful Elements

Throughout the room, you’ll notice a focus on organic and simple materials. A pile of unrefined logs takes center stage in one area, transforming a simple seating element into a rustic feature that encourages imagination and play. The walls are paneled in a warm, natural-toned wood, making the whole room feel sheltering and comfortable.

 

Step into the Nature Theater

The newly defined Nature Theater entrance is framed by a rich wooden header and deep blue curtains, hinting at the mystery and wonder within. It’s ready to host engaging programs and presentations, making learning about cascading waterfalls, soaring raptors, and hidden wildlife an adventure in itself.

We are so proud of this redesign and believe it truly captures the adventurous and calm spirit of the Ogden Nature Center. We can’t wait for you to visit and experience this revitalized space!
